Can you pick up my broken pieces?

“When the lights are dim and your heart is racing as your fingers touch his skin.”
Well so much for making dinner, she probably should have known that they weren’t going to make it that far. She should have known the moment she decided to leave the bathroom in just a black towel that dinner wasn’t going to get that far. He’d been searching the fridge when she’d gotten down stairs, looking for something or other to appease them both when she’d wrapped her damp arms around his waist, pressing her towel wrapped body against his back. Their kisses had started innocent, when he’d turned around he’d simply met her lips match for match, brush for brush. But she’d pressed him for more, deepening it here and there till he’d let his qualms about dinner be kissed away. His hands wondered her damp skin till he’d pinned her back against the fridge for a moment before his childish mannerisms took over , pulling the black towel away, his hands slipping around her chest, thumbs brushing areas that made back kink for a moment before her thoughts had been completely taken away from it by his followed actions. His hands gripping her hips, lifting her up until heated skin met with the white marble countertop. His hands station on her bare thighs for a moment as his lips kissed a clear line down her chest and further.

His kisses turned lighter as they got to her stomach, just like they’d been two years ago. His lips simply ghosting over and seeming to remember when her abs hadn’t protruded so dominantly, when there’d been a convex shape to her middle. His lips ventured lower, inches away from the seven inch line that stood out against her mocha tanned skin. As his lips finally met with the reminder in her skin hazel eyes flicked up to meet chocolate brown meeting for a moment and sharing a world of hurt and pain mixed with understanding and lust, their eye contact didn’t break as he pressed his lips to the scar tenderly, almost to the point of making her fill up. She’d reminded herself over and over time and again that she couldn’t do this every time he was in close proximity of her imperfection. Her mind was stuck in time for a moment. Stuck in the days he used to peel back bandages just to look and see how many staples and stitches she’d popped out in the course of a couple of days. He’d been so careful then, just as he was careful now. Just as she wanted him to forget for just a few moments in time to make them both feel better for a little while.

As his hands slipped down her legs again she put her head back against the cabinets with a slight ‘clink’ as she banged her head against them. Was she supposed to be this content with one person? Wasn’t she supposed to have raging hormones for anyone who wasn’t him? Wasn’t he? Yet this was where she was perfectly content …this is where she felt happy. It was senior year of high school and already she knew that there wasn’t a place that would ever feel any better than this. And it wasn’t just because his hands were slipping between her thighs to part her legs further or because his lips were leaving marks in areas only she would know about. It was because even after everything she’d done to him, all of the shit that she’d put him through he still kissed her goodnight every night. After everything she’d taken away from him with hardly an explanation he still found it in himself to say ‘I love you’ before he walked away from her when no one was around watching them. Because, the truth was that even after all the shit she’d put him through he was for some reason that even held her confused at times, was still in love with her. Her breathing was starting to pick up while her left hand slid down, pointer and middle finger of her left hand slipping down either side of the hawke as she pulled him closer into her. Her thoughts were beginning to disconnect as she felt his hot breath on her, felt his fingers, his tongue, his… “You set up a pain set in the kitchen and you’re talking to me. It’s the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs…” The ringtone she’s set for his mother rang out in both of their ears. She concentrated harder on forgetting it was going off. Not that it took much effort as Puck’s free hand that had been on the inside of her leg made its way around her leg to feel around the counter, knocking his phone to the floor this the battery fell out just as he’d intended to do. It took a few more moments till she was once again starting to slip his name out in breathy words.  Something that didn’t last all to long till, “Scars are souvenirs you never lose, the past is never far…” the sound of the Goo Goo Dolls lit through the kitchen once again. His mother never called her phone right after unless it was an emergency, they both knew that. Knew that so well that just as ‘Noah’ was coming out in a breathy exhale he pulled his mouth away, backing up and wiping his mouth on his shoulder as he reached onto the counter for her phone …well that sucked. “This better be good, I’m kinda in the middle of something Ma.” She would have been able to get her breathing back down to normal if he hadn’t sucked in his lip after talking, if his fingers hadn’t slid right back to where they’d been, picking up that same tortures and slow rhythm. “Car accident …okay…” she bit on her lip, trying to keep the sounds in for a second before he motioned her closer, leaning up for a kiss that she happily complied with regardless of where his mouth had been prior. It was then in an instant that his fingers stopped, his side of the kiss went dead, and he pulled away, “We’ll be right there.” His voice was full of urgency and worry that the first thing that crossed her mind was the thing that was so important to herself had been hurt. She felt her heart jump to her throat her mind forgetting the ledge she’d been just about to fall over. He must have read the worry in her face, somehow knowing exactly what was on her mind as he shook his head at her, “Hudson and Berry.” She probably shouldn’t have done it but she exhaled a deep breath and let herself off of the counter. “You owe me later” she grumbled out not exactly absorbing the seriousness of the situation at hand.
Picking up the towel that’d been dropped to the floor she glanced at him, the stain still gleaming on the shoulder of his black shirt, “Change your shirt” she barked before heading up the stairs to their bedroom, little did she realize exactly what the impact of the accident would be…
